When travelling through the Shoalhaven region, it’s important to note a few basic travel safety tips.
Seeing as though the region lends itself so well to a driving holiday, these relate mainly to road safety rules such as:
- Always wearing seatbelts, appropriate child restraints and helmets where necessary when travelling on Australian roads.
- Sticking to the law enforced road speed limits, blood alcohol limits and obeying all road rules.
- Ensuring regular breaks and ‘driver revive’ every two hours or so when on long driving trips.
We also encourage safe behaviour on our beaches including swimming between the red and yellow flags on patrolled beaches, and reading and obeying waterway safety signs where present.
Tourism NSW has issued two guides – Travel Safely in Australia and the National Visitor Safety Handbook which both offer sound advice and cover off these plus many other useful tips on travelling safely in NSW. Download a copy here.
You can also gain great travel safety advice at from the Australian Government’s Smart Traveller site.
