Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘The Pirates of Penzance”

PRESENTED BY NOWRA ANGLICAN COLLEGE

Nowra Anglican College has a strong tradition of performance. All students at the college are involved in choral singing from K-6 and are encouraged to play and read music. Students from years 7-12 have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles and in 2015 these students presented the very successful “Hairspray” to the Shoalhaven community. This year there are over a 120 students involved in the 2017 production of ‘Pirates of Penzance’.

As the themes of ‘Pirates’ unfolds our cast and crew have been taken on a musical journey filled with preposterous rhymes, highly ornamented duets and some very difficult melodies written by Gilbert and Sullivan.

So as the curtains rise on the rocky seashore off the coast of Cornwell be sure to stay alert to the antics of some very troublesome and some lovable pirate characters.

‘The Priates of Penzance’ is directed by Jane McIntosh and Laura Turner with set design by Laura Turner. Choreography is by Jessica Pound, the Executive Producer is Carolyn Brown and the Technical Director is Matthew Mackenzie
