THE HOME OF GREAT SHORT FILM IS COMING TO HUSKISSON !
Flickerfest is excited to be bringing the National Tour to Huskisson across two nights,
showcasing the Best of Australian Shorts and Best of International 1 programmes, with films handpicked
from the festival’s 2400 entries.
The Flickerfest programmes present an entertaining, inspiring and award-winning range of films,
giving local Flickerfest audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.
The Flickerfest 2017 tour to Huskisson, on Friday 24th March, 6.30pm will screen the Best Of
Australian Shorts programme, featuring ‘The Ravens’ by Jennifer Perrott, shot in the Shoalhaven
area of NSW, in Berry Mountain and Comerong Island, this amazing short revolves around Ruby, a
young girl whose father unexpectedly returns home from the war in a volatile state that makes it
difficult for the family to reconnect. Also screening are winner of the Flickerfest 2017 Yoram Gross
Award for Best Australian Animation, ‘Fish With Legs’, voiced by Frank Woodley and Barry Otto,
and ‘MESSiAH’, a playful collision of cultures in the Australian wilderness, starring David Gulpilil
and written and directed by Underbelly star Damian Walshe-Howling.
On Saturday 25th March at 6.30pm, the Best Of International 1 programme will showcase a
selection of short film gems from our Academy® Accredited Sydney competition. Highlights include:
Academy® Nominated Spanish love story ‘Timecode’ about two security guards finding an
interesting way to communicate with each other, the inspiring Algerian ‘Battalion to my Beat’, in
which ’13-year-old tomboy Mariam, who, dreaming of a life beyond the confines of the Western
Sahara refugee camp, runs away to join the military, and quirky animation ‘OS Love’ from
Switzerland, that dives in the absurd realm of screensavers and desktop backgrounds.
