Bush Discovery Field Day

A Family Day of Bush Discovery

The Field Day is your chance to get amidst the Bundanon landscape with experts in natural resource management, conservation, and ecology.

Meet native animals, be awestruck by the natural amphitheatre, seek delicate autumn orchids, and look for local fish and birds. It’s a day of fun and learning for the whole family with plenty of children’s activities.

ACTIVITIES

Flora Explorer
Explore Bundanon’s diverse flora with Kevin Mills, well-known local botanist and Chair of the NPWS South Coast Regional Advisory Committee together with NPWS’s Valda Corrigan along the Cedar Walk. Discover the success of bush regeneration after lantana clearing.

Autumn Orchids
Join Orchid expert Alan Stephenson for a walk around the property to learn about the fascinating life of orchids.

Living Landscape
Walk parts of Treelines Track with South East land Services’ Jason Carson and Bundanon’s Richard Montgomery. Learn about the changes to the landscape, bush regeneration and restoration occurring through the Landcare Australia Living Landscape project.

Bush Tucker Walk: Auntie Deidre will take you on an Indigenous Bush Tucker Walk through the Bundanon bushland while explaining Koori connections to the land and their relationship to native plants. Auntie Deidre will also be leading a Traditional Weaving Workshop demonstrating various techniques using reeds and string.

Birds: Look and listen
Walk with Barry Virtue of Bird Life Australia to the Amphitheatre and beyond to discover the diverse bird life on the Bundanon property

Haunted Point Loop Walk
Walk the Haunted Point Loop Walk with Bundanon’s Ralph Dixon, passing through rainforest, open woodland and escarpment ridges.

Fish Finders
Our friends from the Southern Bass Club have researched the fish in the Shoalhaven River and work to promote the sustainability of the Southern Bass species. Look in the fish tank and have a chat with the club members to find out about their catch and release monitoring program.

Shoalhaven Zoo to You
Come face to face with native wildlife with Shoalhaven Zoo to You animal encounter display.
